Global Alliance Africa delivered by Innovate UK KTN in partnership with the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) hosted a Commercialisation of Research in Health roundtable event on 5th December 2022 at Kenya Innovation Week (KIW).

To aid South Africa’s efforts aimed at achieving a Just Energy Transition, Global Alliance Africa, a six-year project funded by UK Aid and delivered by Innovate UK KTN, is creating a Global Innovation Network (GIN) that seeks to facilitate the exchange of energy-related knowledge, resources, funding and opportunities between specialists and key stakeholders in South Africa, the UK, and the continent at large.

Voltitude, along with its consortium partner, Formtech Composites Limited, successfully applied for a Demonstration project called TMOS that was funded by the Horizon 2020 UFO project. In less than a year after their project ended, on the back of the initial €60k investment from the UFO project, the company was able to secure £700k of revenue, over a factor of 10 in return.

Innovate UK KTN is launching Global Innovation Networks in South Africa with a focus on Energy and Waste And Water Management. These have been identified as strategic priorities for UK-South Africa collaboration and knowledge exchange activities with some exciting programmes of work to be launched in the upcoming months. To kick-start activities KTN staff attended sector-focused events to share knowledge, gather insights, and start collaborations.

This event focused on pitching of project ideas and building of consortia for European Research and Innovation collaborations, and networking for the Clean Hydrogen Partnership 2023 calls.
