Innovate UK KTN Innovation Exchange - Challenge Round Up August 2022
Are you looking for new business opportunities for your technology?
Do you have the radical technology needed by global players in rapidly growing sectors?
Find out what large innovation challenges these key players are facing and put forward disruptive solutions that your new and cutting edge technologies could deliver. Innovate UK KTN’s Innovation Exchange provides you with the opportunity to become directly linked to, or collaborate with, key industry stakeholders who are actively seeking the most innovative solutions to help them achieve their full potential.
Healthy Ageing Innovation Accelerator
The Innovation Exchange Programme is working alongside Oxford Innovation Advice and the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) to find innovative companies who are ambitious to grow their business. We seek innovators with new product or service ideas that can support us to stay healthy and active to help us to remain mobile and connected as we age. We will be providing free expert assistance to participants particularly focussing on the growing market opportunities in China.
Challenge closes: 25/08/2022
Waste Heat Measurement In Hot Process Flue (Exhaust) Stacks
Innovative solutions for waste heat measurement are sought by a large UK company as part of the KTN Innovation Exchange. For innovators with non-intrusive methods to measure and characterise waste heat streams, mass flow and temperature this is an opportunity to pitch to the company for their high potential projects.
Challenge Closes: 26/08/2022
Adaptable Fender Development
The Innovation Exchange programme is working alongside Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) to support OWA members to solve a wind farm access challenge. OWA members wish to engage innovators to find solutions for adaptable vessel bow fenders that allow for a single vessel to safely push to turbine boat landings that have varying geometries.
Challenge closes: 26/08/2022
Innovative approaches to data-driven asset management solutions
EQUANS is searching for innovators who are developing data-driven asset management solutions that can help digitise and decarbonise energy-consuming assets within buildings and industry, accelerating the zero carbon transition. Through the Clean Growth Innovation Fund, EQUANS is looking to make strategic investments in cleantech start-ups and SMEs. Companies can apply for £100,000 to £1,000,000 in funding, with all EQUANS’ investments matched by funding from Innovate UK to help invested companies accelerate their innovative R&D activity.
Challenge closes: 09/09/2022
Lightweight Energy Storage at Cold Temperatures
The focus of this Challenge is to develop a person-portable energy storage system (along with the associated charging/safety electronics) that can be recharged at a temperature as low as –40°C. The Innovation Exchange programme is working alongside the NSTIx Operational Technology Co-Creation Centre and the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) to engage innovators and innovative companies that can help them solve a significant challenge they are trying to overcome in relation to large energy storage systems that can be deployed for long periods of time in remote and cold environments. Successful applicants will be invited to pitch to the NSTIx Operational Technology Co-Creation Centre with the opportunity of being awarded a 16-week funded opportunity to develop a demonstrator.
Challenge closes: 23/09/2022
Mental Health Management Competence
The Innovation Exchange is supporting the Infrastructure Industry Innovation Partnership (i3P) to connect with innovators that can provide engaging and practical ways of offering guidance to construction/infrastructure managers and teams (including office-based and on-site management) on preventative measures which reduce the effects of work-related stress. EDF is leading this initiative along with other i3P client and supply chain members. The construction/infrastructure industry has HSE standards in place but needs solutions which provide advice to site supervisors on how to support their teams in the field. A variety of methods should be considered.
Challenge closes: 23/09/2022
Novel Sensor Payloads for Asset Inspection Drones
The Innovation Exchange programme is working alongside Futureworx to find emerging technology solutions to engineering challenges. Futureworx wishes to engage with innovators to find novel sensors and/or data processing techniques that can be deployed in scenarios offering relatively low Size-Weight-Power-Cooling (SWAPC) budgets. These will initially be aimed at demanding industrial environments, such as the ongoing survey and maintenance of offshore infrastructure.
Challenge closes: 30/09/2022
