What a connected, digital future means for your business in the East of England
Innovate UK’s flagship event in the East of England takes place at BT on the 20 April. We take a look at what you can expect to see on the day.
“Innovate UK in the East of England” will take place at BT’s Adastral Park complex in Ipswich on 20th April, 9.30am-4pm – click here to register for your free place.
Professor Tim Whitley, BT’s managing director for Research and Innovation will kick things off, talking about the ways in which research and innovation at Adastral Park has transformed our lives and how BT, and almost a hundred other technology businesses at Innovation Martlesham, are working to deliver a more digital, connected future. Watch our recent interview with him.
Innovate UK’s Ian Campbell will speak about how Innovate UK helps businesses innovate today, leading the global growth of industries tomorrow.¬†Nigel Walker, head of innovation lending at Innovate UK, will brief delegates on all new Innovation Loans, which are designed to be low-interest, flexible loans for later stage R&D. Over ¬£50m of funding has been allocated for the first round of competitions.
Delegates have a full range of sessions to choose from, spanning healthcare, manufacturing, agri-tech, digital and access to funding and finance across the day, and also the opportunity to attend a masterclass on applying for funding.
The health session, chaired by KTN’s Head of Health Terry O’Neill with support from University of East Anglia will be discussing the ‚ÄòEastern Region Health & Care Digital Innovation Hub‚Äô and how healthcare spending is outgrowing economic growth and challenging healthcare system sustainability, the need to look to innovation platforms for drug and device discovery, the development of new platforms including digital tools, robotics, artificial intelligence, and new therapeutic approaches to disease, and what the regional approach to meet this challenge might be.
KTN’s Knowledge Transfer Manager for Manufacturing, Lampros Litos, leads the session on improving connectivity for the materials and manufacturing landscape and what the productivity and diffusion agenda means for this sector in the region.
The Digital and ICT session, led by Innovate UK’s Jonathan Mitchener, looks to not only showcase the strength of the digital sector in the East but also how the recent funding announcements and future technologies offer further opportunities for cross-fertilization. The aim is to point businesses towards areas of innovation which have multiple opportunities.
The Agri-food session will be combining health and med-tech and building on the theme of convergence for the East of England. Liliya Serazetdinova, Knowledge Transfer Manager for Agri-food will welcomes Mark Stewart, Innovation Manager, AbSugar to discuss extracting value from agri-food waste.
The “Innovation and internationalisation in an uncertain world” session chaired by Prof Nicholas Caldwell at University of Suffolk along with colleagues from DIT and others from the region.
