Toni Thorne
Knowledge Transfer Manager ‑ Investor Communities ‑ Diversity & Inclusion

As a Knowledge Transfer Manager in the Investor Communities team, my work focuses on diverse investors, with the aim of propelling further investment into the UK’s innovation system and levelling the playing field of those who deploy and access capital.
I am a former entrepreneur and media professional who worked in print media, radio and television across the Caribbean. A former World Economic Forum Global Shaper, I moved to the UK as a Chevening and Cambridge scholar where I gained an MBA in Finance from the University of Cambridge. Whilst at Cambridge, I consulted on asset management and venture capital initiatives. Upon graduating, I worked in Asset and Wealth Management and was awarded by Women of the Future UK, Black Women in Asset Management 40 Under 40 and the Financial Times.
When not working on Innovate UK, I am either fulfilling my duties as a Director of the Premier League Charitable Fund or actively gender-lens investing: writing personal cheques to inspiring female founders.
